Peggy Day Adventures

November 24 - December 6, 2019

This adventure begins when you land at the Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha, Tanzania. Your driver will be waiting for you and you will be transferred to the Iboru Safari Lodge. You might enjoy a swim in the pool and/or a sunset drink in the Safari bar before a delicious and fresh meal, followed by a good liqueur and a fireside chat.

After a good night's rest, we'll head to the Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park that is well known for its tree-climbing lion, elephant, hippo and spectacular bird life. The park offers abundant sightings of monkey, jackel, mongoose, hyena, hyrax, zebra, hippo, warthog, buffalo, Masai giraffe, dulker, waterbuck and impala. Sightings of black rhino and leopard are not uncommon either.

Accommodations will be in the Manyara Wildlife Camp with its panoramic views across the volcano-studded floor of the Rift Valley. We head to the Serengeti National Park for three nights and stay in a luxury tented-camp positioned in the best available location to access the action.

A typical day will include early morning game drives in the company of our Masai guides, departing before sunrise to catch the best wildlife viewing. Return for a large brunch at camp and afternoons are at your leisure. Late afternoon game drives will take you out until sunset and then return to camp.

Evenings are spent around the fire, reliving the day's excitement and hearing stories from the guides. From the Serengeti, drive out to the Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the Eight Wonder of the World. The Crater is a World Heritage Site and contains grasslands, swamps, forests, salt pans and a fresh-water lake. Hyena, lion, black rhino, huge bull elephant (yikes!), hippo and buffalo usually abound and can be easily seen.

Your home for the night will be in the luxurious Country Lodge Karatu. In the morning, transfer to Arusha and fly to Zanzibar Island for a interesting and relaxing two nights in Stones Town and three nights at the Villa Kiva Resort on the northeast coast of the island.

Sailing excursions to encounter dolphins and tortoises as well as snorkeling and diving at the unique and colorful Mnemba reef are possible. Kayaks and bicycles are available as well. The word is that if you only go to Africa once in your life, this is the trip!

Activities: Many amazing game drives.. Diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaks and mountain bikes are available in Zanzibar.
